District metering management system for water supply network

Application background

Leakage in the water supply pipe network not only leads to the waste of water resources, but also easily causes secondary disasters such as road collapse. It is an important factor affecting water supply safety and public safety.

The 14th Five-Year Plan for Water-Saving Society Construction issued by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Water Resources and other departments in 2021 clearly states that by 2025, the target index for the leakage rate of urban public water supply pipe networks shall be < 9.0%. It requires the implementation of urban water supply pipe network leakage control projects, the selection of district metering implementation routes according to needs, the construction of district metering projects, the gradual realization of grid-based and refined management of water supply pipe networks, and the active promotion of pipe network transformation and water supply pipe network pressure regulation projects.

System Overview

The District Metering and Management System for Water Supply Network (also known as the District Metering and Leakage Management System for Water Supply Network) developed by Weigan IOT Technology is researched and developed in accordance with international and domestic requirements and standards for district metering. It is specifically designed for water utilities' leakage control and water production and sales difference management.

The system covers functions such as district management, pipe network flow and pressure monitoring, water volume statistical analysis, water production and sales difference analysis, leakage assessment, minimum night flow analysis, and abnormal water consumption alarm. Its core goal is to identify the "key leakage areas" in the entire pipe network, provide data support for leakage control and management, and reduce pipe network leakage as well as the water production and sales difference of water utilities.

Pipe network zoning

The entire urban public water supply pipe network is divided into several water supply zones, and the zone level is determined based on the management hierarchy and scope of the water supply entity. The more zone levels there are, the more refined the pipe network management will be, but the higher the cost will also be. Under normal circumstances, the highest-level zones should be the management areas of each water supply operation branch or pipe network branch; the middle-level zones should be the sub-zones within the operation management areas. Both the highest-level and middle-level zones serve as Area Metering Zones (AMZs). The lowest-level zones should be Independent Metering Areas (DMAs).
